Birth Trauma

Birth trauma refers to physical or psychological injury sustained by an infant or mother during the labor and delivery process. Physical birth trauma includes mechanical injuries to the newborn, such as fractures, nerve damage (like brachial plexus injury), or intracranial hemorrhage, often caused by difficult deliveries. Psychological birth trauma describes the emotional distress experienced by a mother resulting from a delivery that involved fear of injury or death, often leading to conditions such as Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
