Cesarean Delivery (C-Section)

A cesarean delivery, commonly called a C-section, is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby through incisions made in the mother’s abdomen and uterus. This method is applied when a vaginal delivery would put the baby or mother at risk, such as in cases of fetal distress, abnormal positioning (breech), or placental complications. It is a major surgical procedure carrying risks of infection and longer recovery times compared to vaginal birth, but it can be life-saving when medically necessary.
